His distinguished training includes a 3-year research fellowship at Harvard University (Brigham and Women’s Hospital), where he completed a sub-specialization in drug allergy and desensitization. He earned his PhD at the University of Alcalá de Henares with the highest distinction, “Cum Laude”
Internationally, he has served as the National Coordinator for Drug Allergy in Kuwait (Al-Rashed Allergy Center) and authored the 2020 global drug allergy guidelines for the AAAAI (American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology). Current scientific evidence supports telematic care for all types of allergic conditions, although 10% of cases will require an additional in-person consultation. In more than 95% of cases, an initial treatment can be introduced online:
- Rhinitis and Conjunctivitis: Differentiation between allergic and non-allergic causes, diagnosis via blood test or in-person skin test, and initial treatment or adjustment of existing one, including immunotherapy adjustment after molecular component diagnosis.
- Bronchial Asthma: Differentiation between allergic and non-allergic causes, diagnosis via blood test or additional in-person spirometry test, symptom control, inhaler technique review, and action plan.
- Urticaria and Angioedema: Visual diagnosis of hives and wheals, search for triggers, and guidelines for different available treatments, including antihistamines.
- Drug Allergy: Risk evaluation and review of complex histories.
- Food Allergy: Interpretation of analytics (IgE) and avoidance diets.
- Contact Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis: Visual diagnosis for assessment of alternative diseases and preparation for performing supplementary tests without additional consultations.
- Other allergic diseases: In case of not being an expert in the specific field to be treated, I offer help for referral to the appropriate expert.
Specific cases such as epicutaneous tests (patches) for contact dermatitis, skin tests for food in children, or high-risk challenges require subsequent in-person referral, which will be indicated by the doctor if necessary.
